The first Hindu to be deployed to Iraq is a local Gujarati man, Parag Desai, son of Kokilaben Desai and the late Arvindbhai Desai (long time members of the Gujarati Samaj). He is an Army reserve pilot serving America in Iraq. He is a member of the 228th Aviation brigade from Minnesota.

Parag is to spend about one and half years in Iraq. He was also recently featured in a WCCO TV report at the Geeta Ashram, Brooklyn Park, MN.
